Puzzle matching with Frozen Free Fall game

Puzzle matching with Frozen Free Fall game

Disney just released animated film Frozen and we already got Android Frozen game for free here. Actually it’s not adventure game, but puzzle matching genre. The full name of the game is Frozen Free Fall. The game “weight” is around 70MB and I expected a lot from it. Not because of its size of course, but due to official “approve” from Disney. What is my final opinion about it? Check the review! The artwork and sound impressed me from the very beginning! It’s very well done from this point of view. There are not too many elements, but overall the main screen looks attractive. The snowflake in upper-left corner is the “settings” button. You can turn on/off music and sound, read “How to play” and information about the developers. Of course the main button it the Play. Let’s tap on it! Now we see the beautiful snow background and “1” button. It’s easy to understand that number “one” means the first stage in this puzzle matching game Frozen Free Fall. Of course, after completing the first level, you will open the second level. By the way, in upper right corner you can find the number of life which is available for you.   By pressing the “one” button, game will offer to select the character which will help you during the stage. Each character has its own “special power” such as deleting row of crystals or disappearing crystals with the same color. In the beginning we have only one character , so you will not spend too much time for selection procedure. As many other puzzle matching games for kids and their parents, you have a fixed number of moves and within this number you have to reached the target score by matching the crystals. Score and move information you can find in upper right, and target score right  about the main gaming screen. On first stage your kids will get enough hints so even if they didn’t play such type of the games before, they’ll understand what is required from their side. It’s really very simple. Just swipe here and there for matching 3 or more same crystals horizontally or vertically. After matching, they will disappear.   Conclusion Well, it’s pure marketing product. The animated movie Frozen on cinemas and here the free Android game...

Build city with Tower Blocks 2

Build city with Tower Blocks 2

In Google Play market I found a pretty interesting Android game for your kids called Tower Blocks 2. It’s a combination of arcade and puzzle game with small economical feature as well. It will not impress you with its design and sound effects, but the gameplay is really something interesting to review. And of course, don’t forget that we are reviewing this city builder game from kids’ point of view. The App is small and it will not take too much time and data to download. After launch, you will see the main screen. There are buttons for turning on and off the sound effects and the music in the left-upper corner . Three big icons which are located on the left side which are all about social sharing via Google Plus (rank, score, etc..). And in the middle we can see Rate button for sharing your opinion about the Tower Blocks 2 and finally, Play button for… you know for what.   On the next screen we can select the level. In the beginning we have only one level with 20 stages inside. You shouldn’t worry about “buy” button, from the “profit” from free level, lately your kids can open other levels.   And here probably the main screen where our kids will manage their cities. From the left we (or our children) should buy the building. We have 5,000 gold in the beginning which is pretty good amount, but you can’t build straight away the most expensive and most profitable building. For example, for building blue one you need to build red first. After completing the round, you will place the built construction on any empty square on the right. The numbers 46/64 means that you could “earn” 46 residents of 64, and this building brings 46 gold. For improving the result, your kid should rebuild the construction by tapping on it. To be honest, even for parents it will be very hard to make a building with maximum population inside.   Let’s build a building! Gameplay is simple and requires one tap only. On top of the screen there is a block of the building which is rotating counter-clockwise. You need to tap on block for disconnecting it from the rope and dropping on the top of the previous block. Be careful, if your block...

Jigty Jigsaw Puzzles

Jigty Jigsaw Puzzles

Puzzle games are very useful for your kids. They are improving your kids thinking, logic, imagination. With puzzle games they will learn colors and shapes as well. There are a lot of puzzle games in Android store, and I decided to review one of them. Jigty Jigsaw Puzzles caught my attention due to its high rank. In description there is no any note that it could be used by kids, but I decided to give a try. Wow! There are sets with horses, animals, colors, cars, landscapes, flowers, and even your photo collection. After launching the app I found a big number of puzzle collections. I selected Dinosaurs, and ta-dam! It’s for money! I selected another one and again same story. By scrolling I found that some sets have a  “Free” mark, which are obviously free and available to play, but only few of many are with such note. Well, let’s go ahead with Sample Set.     After selecting the pack, we can select the picture for playing the puzzle. Well, they are not pictures but photos. And this fact makes the app not for kids. For small children it’s way easier to play puzzles with pictures. Anyway, let’s go ahead. The photos have very high quality. I found that dog on “chess” floor will take a lot of time to solve, so I selected leaf on pebbles.       As you can see, on next screen we can select Number of pieces. Cool! For kids we can reduce the number of elements, parents can play with bigger number. I tried to increase number of pieces and found out that if you want more than 64 pieces – it’s for money. Okay, let’s turn on Piece Rotation option, and… again for money! Oh cmon!   I selected 25 pieces of puzzle in the end and saw the main screen with gameplay. All elements randomly scattered in lower and upper parts of the screen. Now you can drag-n-drop the elements and try to solve the puzzle itself. The most important thing that all elements are unique. Also, there is a “magnetic” effect which means that when element very close to its place – it’s automatically sticks to it without possibility to remove.   And these two options are bringing us the cheat – just tap and...

Improve memory of your kids with MatchUp game

Improve memory of your kids with MatchUp game

Some games are just perfect for tablets and matching game is one of them. Due to technical capabilities of tablets, matching games can offer you and your children various cards, type of the cards, detailed statistics, etc.. If you would like to improve memory of all family members, make sure that you installed such type of the game on your tablet, because matching game is just “must have” app. If you don’t have it or looking for alternative – this article is for you. Today we will review MatchUp game for exercising memory of kids. I’ll tell you in advance that it could be used by parents also. Installation of MatchUp memory game went smooth. It’s oriented for playing in landscape only. On Main Screen the main buttons are Settings and Play. Well, in Settings we can disable sound only. In my opinion could be better to have mute on/off icon somewhere on screen. We can remove ads as well by pressing respective button, but during the game itself there are no ads at all, and because of this you can keep this game in “free” mode. Also, we can check other apps from the same developer by tapping More Games.   After clicking Play button, we will see 8 types of the cards such as: Animals, Food, Music, Smiley, Sport, Transportation, Flags, Misc. Need to say that type of the cards is significantly affecting on your results. For example, I found that matching cards with flags for me way harder than others. I’m sure that boys will like matching the Transportation, girls will prefer Animals, and parent will go ahead with Food of course. And once again, here the advantage of tablet for such type of the game. A lot of options, pure random of cards, moreover, if you’re not happy with the existing types, you can select another matching game and improve memory with another pictures and icons.   Let’s go back to our MatchUp Android game. After selecting the type, it’s time to select the number of cards. There are 8 options, starting from 4 cards and up to 100 cards! 2×2 mode is too simple, but of course it’s made for small kids. With such number of cards on screen, they will easily understand what they should do in this game. After...

Nursery Rhymes Free

Nursery Rhymes Free

Today I decided to review a “light” Android education app called Nursery Rhymes Free. It will not teach a lot of stuff to your kids, because this app has nursery rhymes only. Regardless, it could be a very good choice for kids’ bed time. Also, I’m recommending to use such software for relax and fun after studying some “harder” educational apps like letters, numbers, puzzles, etc.. In Nursery Rhymes Free you will find 6 popular songs for babies such as: Bits of paper, Ding dong bell, Hot cross buns, I hear thunder, Incy wincy spider, and Jingle bells. After launching the application, I found that Adobe Air installation for Android is required. So keep in mind that just installing the app isn’t enough. It has 10MB size and will take some time to download. Of course if you didn’t install Adobe Air software before. Finally, I got a main screen. The art work is pleasant, but not impressive. I think too much details are on it and it’s hard to recognize which element on screen is interactive and which one is not.   On the right side there is menu for quick jump to one of the six songs. In the bottom there are two interactive elements: one for turning on/off lyrics and another for playing all songs at once. Exit button is also there. Everything above looks interactive, but actually isn’t. Time to listen to music. Just tap on a song and you’re done.   Voice of a singer is pretty good. Your kids will like it for sure. All songs are made in “video music” style. For example, by listening the “Bits of paper” you will see on screen “action” with papers, “Jingle bell” is all about the Christmas etc.. Moreover, it’s not like a slide show where one picture replaces another. All songs are fully animated like falling snow, jumping rabbit – as mentioned, almost video music.   In my opinion could be great to have some interactive elements why listening to the songs. Currently you and your kids can just listen the songs and watch the animation.   In the left lower corner there are two small buttons. One for Pause/Play and another for switching back to main menu. I found that these buttons are too small and it was pretty hard to tap on them. Probably...

Animals Zoo – Interactive Game

Animals Zoo – Interactive Game

If you’re still looking for another Android educational app for your kids, probably Animals Zoo – Interactive Game worth a shot. Per description, by playing this flash cards game our kids will be able to perfectly recognize 40 animals. Actually, I have reviewed a book Goldilocks and Three Bears from the same developer and I was impressed how well that book was made. And now, let’s check developer’s skills in educational apps area. There is nothing special on the main screen. You should just press “play” icon. By the way, first impression regarding the design that it is not great as in Goldilocks book.   After tapping the button, we have an option to select the animal to learn. Some “premium” content is locked, but as we can see, it’s all about group of animals. I don’t think that this a big issue if your kids are learning the animals. For such purpose the opened single animals icons are sufficient. You can swipe to the right and left for easier navigation. Screen is optimized well for landscape mode of your Android tablet.   Of course I selected lion. As mentioned, art work is not impressive, but still pleasant. After tapping on animal, it will show some action like moving the tail, making specific noise, shaking head, etc.. Parallely, teller will describe the animal by a short poem.   By tapping on the left-upper corner, we can see the text of poem with effect of “karaoke”. Also, we can press the microphone icon and record our own voice instead of narrator’s one. Actually exact the same feature we saw in Goldilocks book.   By pressing on “cubes” icon we can select 4 games. And again, all these games we already saw in the mentioned interactive book. Hm, we can’t ask developer to create new and fresh stuff for each educational app, but same time, it will be boring to play the same games again and again. There could be situation when you will not download the app from this developer, just because you are aware of mini-games inside. Let’s go back to the Animals Zoo.   Counting game is the simplest one. Your kid should tap on “object” and respective number and voice will appear.   Puzzle game is traditional and not hard at all. There are no too much elements and no...

Educational Games for Kids

Educational Games for Kids

While selecting another Android app for review, I found the Education Games For Kids. The name is like a description, but its an actual name of the software. Its described as an app for kids with 8 educational games inside such as numbers, letters, colours, shapes, days, months and others. Wow – it was my impression after reading the description. Is it possible to cover so many educational directions within one Android app? This review will give you the answer! Main screen is pretty simple with fast access to all 8 “games”. Menu is not optimized for landscape mode on tablet and due to this there is too much space between the icons.   I started from the beginning by selecting Letters game. Let’s see what we have here: letter and picture with the “object” which starts with the same letter. By tapping on a picture youh can hear the letter. In the left upper corner there is an icon for disabling/enabling sound. In the right-upper corner, there is an icon for turning on/off the hints on screen. In the bottom we have navigation bar. Actually we can switch between letters by swiping left and right.   Well, this Letters game didn’t impress me a lot. Probably some other games will show some better stuff. Let’s try the next game which is Numbers. Hm, absolutely same story as we saw in Letters. The only difference that its all about numbers. Same navigation bar and icons. Your kids should just swipe and listen to the pronunciation of number. Nothing else.   What about colours? And again same technique, but instead of pictures just squares with respective colours. Your kids should just watch and remember. I’m afraid that they will be bored extremely fast.   After that I selected Shapes game, but I already knew what I’ll see there. Now it’s your turn! Could you predict what will you see in Shapes games? Amazing! You are totally right!   Absolutely same story with Days and Months.   Conclusion The main advantage of tablet for kids over the book is the interactivity. By interacting with an app your kids will learn and remember way faster. This Android app Education Games For Kids is bookish. Its one-sided without “feedback”. Your kid should just watch and remember. I can’t call this app is “bad”. If your kids have enough...
